God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. – 1 Peter 4:10-11 (NLT)
Often times many believers and non-believers think they need to have everything in their lives together before seeking salvation. When in fact, turning to God will help them get their lives together and their spiritual gifts too! Keep in mind, you do not have to master your gift before using it. By using it for God, He will cause your gift to be mastered and sandpapered in the mix.
Using your gift isn’t as hard as it seems. Ask God to direct you and He will show you how to use your gift. If you do not know your gift, ask God to reveal it to you.
However, remember that practice makes perfect. If you don’t use it, you can lose it.
Take Matthew 25:14-30. the Parable of the Three Servants:
One servant received five bags of silver, another received two bags, and the third received one bag of silver. The servants with five bags and two bags of silver both doubled their bags. However, the other servant was afraid to lose his bag and buried it in the ground. When they returned to their master, he was pleased with everyone but the third servant, who refused to use what was given to him.
If you’re not using anything God has given you, how can He use you? It is simple just let your light shine.
Stop trying to perfect your gift before you use it, go ahead and use your gift in whatever way you can. If it is singing, why not join the choir or the praise and worship team. If you can bake, then start baking for family functions or maybe a camp. Do something for God’s glory and after awhile you will see the growth.
