In my distress I called upon the Lord , And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Psalms 18:6 NKJV
Back in February, I sent out a massive email to all subscribers explaining what REFRESH Magazine would be upon its return. Check it out below:
For the past month I’ve been trying to figure out the right way to say what I am about to share with you. I’d sit back and wonder how would I apologize to you, explain to you why you haven’t been receiving bi-weekly emails, seeing new posts on the website and why our social media pages have been less social. In a nutshell, I feel like I’ve let you down. From events being cancelled to specific articles not being published, as a leader, I believe I could have done so much better. Nevertheless, I cannot go back in time but only move forward. With that being said here it goes:
REFRESH MAGAZINE WILL BE A PERSONAL BLOG.
If you are not aware, before REFRESH became a magazine it was my personal blog entitled, “Christians in College.” My mission was simple: to rejuvenate, inspire and inform college students and young adults on what it takes to maintain Christian morals and still have fun in college and life in general. I started the blog January 2016, shortly after my college graduation in December 2015. Reason beginning, God had informed me during my senior year in college that our world was in a dark state and we needed light. I asked Him how could I help and He suggested I start a blog.
From January to April 2016 I published a post faithfully on my blog until May when I received a summer internship at the Atlanta Business Chronicle. While there I connected with the entire editorial staff and they suggested I continue to follow my dreams and ambitions. I always knew I wanted Christians in College to be more than just a blog, but it wasn’t until August of 2016 that I began planning for REFRESH Magazine.
That is where I believe I went wrong. No longer was my focus on what GOD had informed me to do, but it was on what ERICA wanted to do. For a full year I recruited writers, editors and volunteers to help my dream become a success. Although I would inform helpers that REFRESH was lead by the Holy Spirit,as I sit back and think on it… in all honesty it was not.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t until after the second week of January 2018 that I began to realize that something needed to change and I knew it wasn’t God. On January 9th I surrendered REFRESH to Christ and two days later joined the Saved in the City Deeper Fast.
For 21 days I poured my heart out to God and asked Him to reveal to me what was next for REFRESH. I asked Him to decrease me and increase His divine spirit in me. Sure enough, through deep prayer and fasting God shared with me that He wanted me to go back to the way things use to be.
With that being said, REFRESH will keep its name but I have decided to fully surrender the business to God and follow the path He has set for me- which unfortunately in this season is not a magazine.
Going forward, I will be mainly sharing my personal experiences (good and bad) as a Christian and anything else God places on my heart to share with you on this platform. Although REFRESH will be a personal blog, I am willing to occasionally accept special guest post. In addition, the current posts will remain on the REFRESH website. The website name: www.refreshthemagazine.com and social media names: refreshmag3125 will remain the same. Apart from that, I can not say what exactly is next for REFRESH, the blog, but I do know what He has to come will be mind blowing. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at email@example.com or DM me through social media @refreshmag3125.
It’s a painful, yet necessary transition and I truly appreciate your support and ongoing prayers. I pray you would continue to follow me as I follow Christ, especially as I embark on this new season.
