Allow God to Restore You

Even though you are banished to the ends of the earth,[a] the Lord your God will gather you from there and bring you back again. The Lord your God will return you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will possess that land again. Then he will make you even more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors! – Deuteronomy 30:4-5

We understand that nobody is perfect and everybody has made mistakes in the past, but the hard part is allowing ourselves to move past them and embracing God, flaws and all. What we have to understand is that God knew we would sin – He knows we aren’t perfect! That’s the great thing about God – He accepts us as we are and is willing to help us work through it as long as we trust Him!

The first step is simply to understand that, despite our mistake, there a way to move on. A lot of times we keep ourselves from being restored and moving forward with our lives. We have to take the first step towards restoration – God cannot do that for us. He will never force or push us into anything.

Abandon your past – don’t worry about that anymore. You are a new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). God knows that and so do you.

Don’t concern yourself with what your family, friends, or peers say. The only validation that matters is from God. Yes, it’s going to be difficult. God never told us it would be a walk in the park. Restoration means that we are going to cry, we are going to feel pain, we are going to feel uncomfortable.

But when we get through it and to the other side…..that will be a moment to rejoice!

Yes, you might have an ugly past, but once you accept Jesus, you’re past is no longer relevant. Don’t allow anything or anyone to tell you any different. God is the only person who can tell you anything!

Don’t worry about what the people in your past may say about you – let the Lord have that! It’s His job anyway, don’t get in the way of that! All you have to do is let God work! It’ll all work out in the end!
