Everyone, especially Christians, has moments in their lives when they struggle with their self-esteem. Nevertheless, we must remember to fight negative thoughts with positive ones and stay in-tune with the word of God. But how? Here are three Bible scriptures to meditate on when struggling with self-esteem.
Psalm 139:14 – I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
This verse is the classic go-to verse for people when they are struggling with an external lack of self-esteem. Nonetheless, it is still very effective! When we find ourselves comparing our looks to others we have to remember that God made us all special and unique, yet still a mirror image of Him – we have God’s DNA, we can’t help but be beautiful!
2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Every so often, Satan likes to throw our pasts in our faces and tell us that we can never be what God wants us to be because we are broken and damaged goods. Not true! God’s word tells us that when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, all of the things we used to do, say and be are no more. God wipes our slate clean! It is up to us to not bring it back up.
1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
If someone tries to tell you that you aren’t good enough, that you don’t deserve something, that you aren’t who you say you are, recite this verse out loud. It doesn’t matter what anyone may try to come and say about you, you know who you are and whose you are. Nobody can take that away from you.
