It’s a new year, a new day and a new dawn. No matter how you finished 2016, you have the opportunity to renew, restart and refresh your focus this year! If you realize a change made mid-year or towards the end of the year is necessary, go for it! Why wait? However, if a new year gives you the motivation you need for new beginnings, that’s awesome! Here are a few tips that will assist you in tackling this new year as a new you!
1. In All Your Getting, Get An Understanding
Set time aside to think about the goals and ambitions you want to accomplish this year. Seeking this out before jumping in, can save you a lot of bad decisions in the long run. So grab a journal, find a tree or a Starbucks and begin contemplating the life you see for yourself.
Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.”
2. Plan To Succeed
A goal without a plan, is nothing but a dream. Do yourself a favor by investing in a planner. It keeps you on track to achieving and tackling bigger obstacles. Plan ahead and watch how far you catapult this year.
Habakkuk 2:2 “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”
3. Anything You Practice, You Become Good At
Over 100 times the saying, “practice makes perfect,” has been proven true. Habits negative or positive become actions repeated and apart of you. Start creating new habits for yourself that are beneficial to your progression and livelihood. The habits you start today, will determine how strong you finish this year.
Ephesians. 4:22-23″ Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life… Instead let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.”
4. Don’t Be Afraid To Step Outside Your Circle
Having a group of friends you trust and love spending time with is one of the greatest gifts in life. However, you can only grow as far as the people you surround ourselves with. Begin to seek people outside of your group who can motivate you, teach you and mentor you. Be wise in spending time around optimistic and encouraging people; anything other than that, will deter you from your goals.
Proverbs 19:20 “Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days.”
5. The Early Bird Catches The Worm
Waking up early in the morning is a habit that you should fully embrace this year. By doing so, you will knock out a plethora of tasks and most importantly give the beginning of day your to God.
Psalm 110:3 “Our people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, you have the dew of Your youth.”
6. Don’t Be Your Own Worst Enemy
Procrastination is a horrific downfall .Many believe they have all the time in the world to get a task done, but one day turns into another, and the next thing you know, it’s the end of the year and you’ve gotten nowhere. This year, be proactive in everything that you set out to do. The only person that can hold you back is you.
Proverbs 15:19″A lazy person’s way is blocked with briers, but the path of the upright is an open highway.”
Be aware of the things you put your energy into. Try to only partake in things that will increase your value as a person and as a child of the Kingdom. Don’t invite people and things into your space that will taint your mind or will hinder the progress you’re working hard towards. Value your time and use it wisely. Realize that not everyone deserves your time, energy or space, and that it is perfectly okay. Not all people aspire to do good-by you, so be wise in all things.
Proverbs 4:23″Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
For once, that saying“new year, new you” can be true and apply to you, if you take heed to the informative tips. You can truly become the person you want to be, if you take the necessary steps to do so. Don’t let another year pass by where you didn’t make the most of it because you weren’t intentional with your every day actions. Refresh your mind and renew your thinking. Most importantly, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you set out on your journey in 2017.
