Finding Spiritual Identity as a Brazilian

Who are you? What defines you? Those are some questions regarding your identity you have probably heard before. They are related to your beliefs, moral values— overall, your religion.

In this video, Nayara Azevedo tells us about her identity. Like many Brazilians, she grew up in a Catholic family. Although Brazil does not have an official religion, similar to the United States, many Brazilians declare themselves Catholic. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, sixty-four percent of Brazilians are Catholic while 22 percent of the population are Christians.

Growing up, Nayara only went to church on special occasions with her grandmother. Eventually, she started to  believe that Christianity and religion in general, was merely a list of things she had to follow in order to be a “good girl.” That was until someone showed her a different way of thinking and relating to God.

In this interview, Nayara explains how she found her truly identity in Christ. She reports the events that helped her to know God and  understand His purpose in her life. Watch her story to discover how Christianity can be much more than just a religion!
