As each day passes, the world gets crazier and crazier. Nevertheless, the Word tells us these things must happen before our Savior comes back for us. However, there comes a time for every Christian when life becomes a little unbearable and causes us to worry a little too much.
If there is one piece of advice that we all should be aware of, it is simply to get out of our feelings.
Yes, we know we will be persecuted and talked about. Yes, we know things will get harder for Christians around the world. In addition, we know if we do not get ourselves together and in alignment with Christ, we will miss out on the things He has for us. So, why are we so upset when it happens?
God instructs us to not allow the worries of this world to trouble us because we are not of this world; however, a lot of us have begun to allow these things to overtake us and consume our minds.
Nevertheless, we are here to help. Below are three ways to stay in tune with God even when the world tries to come in and distract us:
1. Remind Yourself of What the Word Says
Sometimes the best way to snap back into reality is by reading the Word of God. It is easy to get worked up about so many things, but when we focus on God (like He tells us to do), we will find ourselves more certain that, no matter what the world does, we are going be okay.
2. Turn Off the TV
Tune the world out for a bit. If you find that you cannot take hearing so much bad news, do not watch the news for a while – take a break! Instead, read your Bible, listen to some encouraging music, spend some time at your church. Sometimes the world becomes too much and it is up to us to find a way to make it brighter again.
Nothing can calm your spirits like prayer. This is the time when God speaks to us and tells us what we need to do. If you are feeling overwhelmed and you are not sure where to go or what to do, talk to God about it – He’ll direct your steps! Keeping in close contact with God and making sure that you are talking to Him and letting Him guide you is the best insurance you can have in this crazy world!
